Opposition Senator Dr Amery Browne has accused the government of misleading the public over the handling of a recent controversy involving state broadcaster TTT Limited.
He was responding to comments made by Minister Nicholas Morris, who said there was no need for an outside probe into the audio loss during Helon Francis’s performance during the 2026 Dimanche Gras show.
“Please be reminded that the youthful Helon Francis served as an Independent Senator from 2023 to 2025. He saw first-hand in the Parliament how the UNC treats those that are not completely aligned and beholden to their agenda,” Dr Browne wrote on Facebook.
Dr Browne called the comments about TTT’s internal report as “official lies.”
He said an independent investigation remains necessary to ensure transparency and accountability.
At the post-Cabinet media conference on Thursday, Morris said an independent investigation was not necessary.
“The CEO and technical team provided a report on the issue and for those calling for an independent investigation into this, the staff at TTT Limited are independent. They weren’t hired by the UNC, we met them there and we will not allow people to tarnish the staff at TTT, firstly. There is no need for an independent investigation because the team at TTT, we met there, and they provided that report,” Morris was quoted as saying.
