Opposition Leader Penelope Beckles-Robinson said the government must give a “clear explanation” of the visit of the US Navy ship, the USS Gravely.
She said she wants more details on what training the US Navy are offering to local forces.
Mrs Beckles-Robinson said the development was “interesting” given the rising tensions between the USA and Venezuela.
Mrs Beckles-Robinson called on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to give a statement on the issue.
Her comments were echoed by Opposition MPs Marvin Gonzales and Symon de Nobriga.
Gonzales told reporters outside Parliament today “to regard this as an isolated event is to take us for fools.”
