Opposition Leader Penelope Beckles-Robinson says the Prime Minister is out of touch on the issue of school violence after suggesting expulsion should be a primary response to student misconduct.

Beckles-Robinson argues that discipline is important, but says many disruptive behaviours stem from deeper social and economic challenges faced by students and families.

She says the focus should be on intervention and support programmes rather than simply removing students from the education system.
