Nikhil Alleyne and Emma Gatcliffe will carry Trinidad and Tobago’s flag at the Opening Ceremony for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

This event will be held simultaneously at two different locations this Friday, starting at 3pm T&T time.

Two cauldrons inspired by the work of Leonardo da Vinci will be lit one in front of the Arco della Pace in Milan before moving to San Siro football stadium, and the other one in Piazza Dibona, Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Alleyne and Gatcliffe are due to compete in the giant slalom and slalom skiing events at the Games.

T&T will also be represented in the bobsleigh event.

Regarding the selection, the T&T Olympic Committee said, “As members of Trinidad and Tobago’s historic Winter Olympic Alpine Ski Team, Nikhil Alleyne and Emma Gatcliffe embody what is possible when determination meets opportunity. Their selection reflects not only athletic excellence, but the collective strength, unity, and spirit of a team that has dared to dream beyond borders, climate, and convention.”

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be hosted across multiple clusters from February 6th – 22nd.
