The Works Ministry says it will build a new bridge to replace the fallen one at St. John’s Road Branch Trace in Avocat.

This will be done through its PURE Unit, despite the fact that the structure does not fall under the Ministry’s purview.

Responding to queries from 103.1FM News, the Ministry said the project is currently in its final design stage, with detailed plans and supporting documentation being finalised for tender.

It added that this would ensure work is advanced in the best interest of affected motorists, road users and surrounding communities.

The Ministry said the project would be executed with urgency to ensure seamless access and connectivity within the community in the soonest possible time.

In July 2024, the bridge collapsed cutting off more than atleast 40 people in a nearby community.

It falls under the purview of the Siparia Regional Corporation and has repeatedly said they did not have the required finances to fund the reconstruction of the structure.
