More than 40,000 additional diagnostic imaging scans have been completed at the NCRHA, following changes aimed at clearing a longstanding backlog.
The NCRHA reported the increase recorded over the past year compared to the previous period, includes MRIs, CT scans, mammograms, ultrasounds and X-rays.
Chairman Dr. Tim Gopeesingh said the current board inherited a significant backlog last August, but immediate steps were taken to reduce waiting times.
CEO Bhadase Seetahal-Maraj added that timely diagnoses improve patient outcomes and help reduce public healthcare costs.
