The National Carnival Commission says the decision to relocate the John Cupid Carnival Village was not taken lightly.

During the opening night on Friday, NCC Chairman, Peter Kanhai, was jeered by members of the crowd, who were reportedly dissatisfied with the relocation of the Village to the northwestern side of the Grand Stand at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

He has since assured that the NCC would listen to the feedback and continue working to improve the overall experience for the public.

He also insisted that the decision to relocate was not taken lightly, with the new location intended to create a more spacious and more inclusive venue, capable of accommodating larger audiences.

The 2026 John Cupid Carnival Village is free and open to public each day until January 28th.

It will host some of the biggest names in Calypso and Soca today, including Yung Bredda, GBM Nutron, Kernal Roberts, Ding Dong, Zan, Hanif Goodridge, Chuck Gordon and more.
