The National Trade Union Centre is calling on Government to protect vendors and preserve the historic Breakfast Shed in Port of Spain.
In a media release, NATUC says the issue goes beyond redevelopment, describing the facility as a symbol of working-class resilience for over a century.
The union insists vendors—many of them small entrepreneurs and single mothers—must not face displacement or uncertainty after decades of contribution.
NATUC is urging immediate talks between Government, UDeCOTT and vendors to ensure security of tenure or proper relocation, and a fair resolution of outstanding arrears.
