Nearly half a million dollars worth of illegal narcotics has been seized in Sangre Grande.
During an operation yesterday, officers searched two residences at Darmanie Hill, Guaico.
No illegal items were found, however additional intelligence from members of the community led the team to a nearby forested area where two white plastic buckets were found hidden in some bushes.
These contained 10 brown rectangular packets and five transparent plastic bags containing cannabis, weighing 10 kilograms with an estimated street value of TT$420,000.
There were also four Ziploc bags containing cocaine valued at TT$24,000, as well as a black Taurus G2C 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine.
