Citizens are being reminded that cruelty to animals is a criminal offence.
As such, it is punishable under the Summary Offences Act Chap. 11:02, and the Animals (Diseases and Importation) Act Chap. 67:02.
In a statement, the Ministry of Agriculture condemns cruelty to animals as being “heinous and inhumane” and urged persons to remain vigilant.
It says anyone who witnesses acts of animal cruelty or has information regarding intended acts of cruelty to animals should immediately file a report.
Such reports can be made to the Ministry via: 877-8888 / 877-6253 / 772-2474.
Reports can also be made to the TTPS.
