The Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation into recent illegal drone activity near the country’s major airports, by an “anonymous source”.
A release issued today confirmed that drones were flown within the 5-kilometre no-fly zone around both Piarco and ANR Robinson International airports, posing significant safety risks to commercial flights.
Authorities have also expressed concern about attempts to capture footage of military installations, which could jeopardize national security.
The Ministry has warned that those continuing to operate drones in violation of the law will face necessary actions, including those available under the State of Emergency, to protect public safety.
