The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services has distributed more than one-point-one million dollars in Home Repair and Disaster Assistance grants to vulnerable families in central Trinidad.
The assistance was delivered today through the National Social Development Programme, benefiting 67 households in Chaguanas and the Couva, Tabaquite, Talparo region — impacting more than 220 people.
Minister Vandana Mohit said the initiative reflects the Government’s commitment to people-centred social protection, noting that long-standing backlogs have been cleared to ensure faster relief.
She emphasised that recovery goes beyond repairing homes, focusing on restoring dignity, confidence and hope for families affected by hardship.
The Ministry says it will continue prioritizing disaster relief and long-term social support for citizens across Trinidad and Tobago.
