Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath read to children at the California Government Primary School as part of storytelling sessions on Wednesday for “World Read Aloud Day.”
Mr Padarath read “How the School Badjohn Learned His Lesson” to the student body.
The Ministry of Education said the reading session was warmly received by both students and staff.
It stated that the event a meaningful and memorable contribution to the celebration of literacy and character development at the school.
As a literacy activity, World Read Aloud Day supports the development of the English Language Arts skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing and representing.
Read Alouds promote vocabulary development, build connections between the spoken and written word and promote reading as a fun and enjoyable activity.
