One of Tobago’s key tourism assets was on the radar of the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism during the past week.

Trade Minister Satyakama Maharaj visited the 25-year-old Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort and held discussions with Acting General Manger, Jason Martin, and Senior Maintenance Manger, Rene George.

Minister Maharaj was accompanied by Irfan Hosen, the Director of Investment at the Ministry of Trade.

Magdalena Grand, which is the largest hotel property in Tobago, has been under scrutiny due to guest complaints, visible structural deterioration, and ongoing renovations.

The hotel holds a critical position in Tobago’s tourism infrastructure and the Minister’s visit is seen a pivotal in reviving its fortunes.

“The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the role of the hospitality industry in strengthening Tobago’s tourism product, enhancing visitor experiences, and supporting economic growth through sustainable tourism development,” stated the Ministry.

“The Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism remains committed to working closely with industry partners to advance initiatives that promote destination competitiveness, attract investment, and expand opportunities within the tourism sector.”
