Human traffickers, the government will find and prosecute them, and continue its work to dismantle human trafficking in the country.
This is according to Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander in his statement for this year’s observance of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
In 2025 the Counter Trafficking Unit, working with other agencies, successfully disrupted a major trafficking ring in Tunapuna, rescued victims, and seized over TT $150,000 in suspected illicit proceeds.
He added that T&T was elevated to Tier 2 in the 2024 US Department of State Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report and currently remains there, but pledged the government’s commitment to work for Tier 1 compliance.
He said citizens had a role to play and urged persons all to call the CTU hotline at 500-4CTU (4288) to confidentially report and suspicious activities.
