CEO of Masala Entertainment, Avinash Sookraj, said he was “emotional” after winning the 103FM Local Bhajan Countdown for 2025.
The winning track was Ramayana Aarti from the 19-song album Divali Ka Masala 3.0, which featured the voice of the late Anil Bheem.
Local stars Indar Kanhai, Neshard Mayroo, Kaveesh Maharaj, and Akshay Kandooo also lent their voices to the winning track.
Sookraj paid tribute to Bheem, who passed away suddenly in February 2023.
“I believe that Divali is not the same without Anil Bheem,” said Sookraj.
“When you think about Divali in Trinidad or the Caribbean, you think about Anil Bheem’s music. That was the reason for having Bheem on this particular song.”
The Masala Entertainment chief executive was very pleased with the win.
“It was really, really amazing. I feel really emotional because I know we put in a lot of work for the entire album,” said Sookraj.
Sookraj said that they are already in preparation for the offerings for Divali 2026.
“It is definitely a great accomplishment and we do look forward to do a lot more stuff. This has been the last Divali Bhajan album but we have more stuff for 2026 Divali,” he said.
The 103FM Local Bhajan Countdown is an annual countdown featuring locally produced bhajans that started in 2004.
