Police have charged a San Fernando man in connection with the alleged fraudulent sale of a motor vehicle.
The charge follows investigations by officers of the Fraud Squad into a report that a victim paid cash for a red Toyota Corolla, which was sold as being free from all encumbrances.
However, police say subsequent enquiries revealed the vehicle was actually used as collateral for a loan and had already been repossessed by a financial institution.
The suspect appeared before Master De Silva at the San Fernando South B Court on Friday and was granted 150-thousand-dollars bail.
As part of his bail conditions, he was ordered to surrender his passport and report to the San Fernando Police Station.
The matter has been adjourned to February 5th, as investigations continue.
