Soca superstar Machel Montano says he is “beyond words” after capturing the 2026 Road March title..

In a statement following the announcement, Machel Montano said the feeling of this latest triumph ranks among the most special moments of his career.

“What an absolute honor and joy it is to celebrate this 2026 Roadmarch win!!! I am beyond words, and the feeling is only comparable to my first win in 1997,” Montano stated.

The win is also historic, marking the breaking of a 50-year record in the Road March competition.

“I am grateful to be a part of the historic breaking of this 50-year record and hope it will be inspiration to all, especially to the upcoming young men and women in our industry!!! Keep dreaming and setting goals while working hard, being determined and dedicated. You can and will achieve anything you put your mind and efforts toward,” Montano said.

Montano extended congratulations to fellow soca stars Voice and Bunji Garlin, along with the other contenders, thanking them for what he described as a challenging and competitive race.

“To Voice, Bunji Garlin, and all the other contenders, I extend my congratulations and gratitude for a most challenging race. All great songs and valiant efforts to reach the finish line,” he stated.

Montano has now won 12 Road March titles, breaking Lord Kitchener’s record of 11, which has stood since 1976.

Montano won his first Road March title in 1997 with “Big Truck,” while Lord Kitchener’s last title was in 1976 with “Flag Woman.”
