A war of words has erupted between former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and Minister Barry Padarath over West Indies icon Brian Lara.
Dr. Rowley, in a Facebook post, urged the Government not to disrespect him and criticized the use of Lara as “collateral damage” in what he described as a “scorched earth” policy of ongoing retribution at TSTT.
Although his message lacked context, speculation suggested he was referring to TSTT’s termination of Lara’s brand ambassadorship.
Hours later, Minister Padarath also posted on Facebook, stating that Lara had called him to confirm that his TSTT contract ended in 2022 under the former administration and was not renewed. The Minister added that Lara expressed surprise and concern, distancing himself from anyone claiming otherwise.
