Government is monitoring the Middle East conflict and working with local farmers and stakeholders to mitigate any potential impact on food prices and agriculture.
Concerns were raised by the Opposition over a rise in fertilizer prices following the outbreak of war.
Fighting in the Middle East has blocked roughly 20% of the LNG supply, which fertilizer makers in Europe and elsewhere rely on.
Additionally, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the war in the Middle East has not affected international interest in the government’s Blueprint Investment Plan.
She said government has received almost 1,000 expressions of interest from companies worldwide.
