A number of persons gathered outside the Red House yesterday to demand justice for Joshua Samaroo and Kaia Sealy.
Samaroo was killed and Selay wounded by police officers on January 20th.
According to Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, the shooting came at the end of a vehicular chase that began in Maloney and ended when Samaroo’s Toyota Aqua crashed in St Augustine.
There was public outrage after CCTV footage showed officers opening fire after Samaroo put his hands out of the car’s window.
The protestors however have rejected the information released by authorities and called for accountability and transparency.
They also called for an independent investigation, meaningful consequences, and reform within the Police Service.
A number of police officers were reportedly seen observing the demonstration, including some in riot gear.
