A senior official in the Lebanese President’s Office says Lebanon will take part in direct talks with Israel next week, but only if a ceasefire is in place first.
The BBC reports the date and time have not yet been confirmed.
While direct negotiations are rare, Lebanon and Israel have previously communicated through intermediaries, including the United States.
The move follows ongoing efforts since a November 2024 ceasefire agreement, with US envoys continuing mediation between both sides.
