A dramatic late-night rescue at sea has led to ten arrests after the kidnapping of a 73-year-old woman in Trinidad.
Police say Tara Poliah was abducted from her San Juan home on Wednesday and taken toward the north coast.
Acting on radar intelligence, the Coast Guard intercepted a vessel near Corozal, rescuing Poliah unharmed.
During the operation, two suspects jumped overboard in an apparent escape attempt but were later picked up by a fisherman and handed over to authorities.
Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro praised the coordinated response, calling it a breakthrough against organized kidnapping networks.
