The Central Statistical Office reports that inflation edged higher in January.

The Consumer Price Index shows the annual inflation rate at 0.7 percent, up from 0.4 percent in December.

The All Items Index rose by 0.5 percent to 125.8.

Food prices increased slightly, driven by higher costs for items including fresh chicken, fish and vegetables, though some groceries declined.

There were also increases in alcohol and tobacco, health, recreation, and restaurant prices, while transport and communication recorded small decreases.
