A report on the death of six-year-old Jasher Francois has been submitted to the Health Ministry.
The report was compiled by an independent expert panel convened to review the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
The Ministry says while the panel’s findings have been presented, “it is important to note that a statement from the parents of Jasher Francois was not received during the extension period granted to the panel.”
It adds that the Office of the Chief Medical Officer has formally reached out to the parents to ensure their perspective is captured, since it is essential to ensure that the review is conducted with “the highest degree of fairness, care and sensitivity.”
Little Jasher died at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital on August 7th 2025.
An autopsy concluded that he died from aspiration pneumonitis, which is a condition caused by inhaling sterile gastric contents.
After concerns from his parents, a second autopsy was done, which concluded that Jasher died from a cardiovascular event likely triggered by certain medication.
