Dr. Lackram Bodoe, Minister of Health, and Minister in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Rishad Seecheran, met with representatives from key U.S. agencies on Monday to discuss areas of shared interest in health and disease prevention.
The meeting included officials from the U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Among those present were Mr. Charlie Franta, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission; Mr. Jeffrey Cernyar, Deputy Political and Economic Counselor; Ms. Ava-Gay Timberlake, Deputy PEPFAR Coordinator; and Drs. Paul Young and Patrice Rabathaly Nandram.
Local health leadership, including Permanent Secretary Asif Ali, Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jeanine St Bernard, and other key Ministry staff, also attended the discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration on HIV/AIDS programs and public health initiatives.
