The Guyana government is moving to introduce tougher laws and stronger enforcement against littering, as part of a national push for cleaner communities.
Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Anil Nandlall says amendments are being finalized to target what he called the “indiscriminate and unacceptable dumping of refuse.”
He warns that littering in streets, drains, and public spaces is a growing sanitation and environmental threat.
The new measures will introduce harsher penalties and improved systems to identify and prosecute offenders.
