Grenada’s prime minister has welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with T&T in the oil and gas sector.

Over the weekend, Energy Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal held talks with Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, and other top officials from that country, regarding partnerships in Energy.

Mr. Mitchell expressed Grenada’s commitment to deepening partnerships with T&T, especially in support services. This, as his country is at the early stage of assessing its hydrocarbon resource potential.

This engagement builds on a MoU signed between T&T and Grenada in 2012 for cooperation on energy development.

The Ministry says collaboration would allow for the transfer of skills and technology, which in turn would bring mutual benefits to the people of T&T and Grenada through jobs, income, and opportunities.

On May 3rd, 2025, at the Cabinet swearing-in, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar directed Energy Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal to urgently pursue energy collaboration with Grenada. Following this, the Ministry initiated formal contact, leading to in-person meetings between both governments on August 23rd–24th, 2025.

In 2012, T&T and Grenada signed an MoU on energy cooperation. This renewed engagement builds on that agreement, with T&T ready to share its oil and gas expertise to support Grenada’s energy development.
