The Governor of Washington State has declared a state-wide emergency as severe flooding threatens the region, with up to 100,000 residents facing possible evacuation orders.
According to BBC News, heavy rain and snow at higher elevations are expected to worsen conditions, with the Skagit River predicted to reach potentially historic levels by mid-morning Friday.
Governor Bob Ferguson said there have been no reports of fatalities so far but warned the risk is not over.
He added that recovery from the storm could take weeks and called for federal assistance to help affected communities.
