Over 680 delegates from 175 countries have gathered in Lima, Peru, for the Eleventh Session of the FAO’s International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources.

The week-long conference is focused on safeguarding crop diversity under the theme “Fostering Biodiversity and Food Security.”

Peru’s Vice Minister Carmen Inés Vegas Guerrero says the meeting highlights the vital role of farmers and ancestral knowledge in preserving plant heritage.
