The latest U.S. military strike in the Eastern Pacific has killed four people, targeting what authorities say was a drug-smuggling vessel.
In a post on X, U.S. Southern Command said the operation was directed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The vessel was describe as being operated by a designated terrorist organization and carrying illicit narcotics along a known trafficking route.
The strike comes amid renewed scrutiny of the Trump administration, after reports showed a targeted boat had already been hit twice during a September 2 operation, an action experts say could potentially be considered a war crime.
