Extra police patrols will be deployed at Barataria North Secondary School as part of new measures to address safety concerns, following a violent incident outside the school on November 4th.

Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath said the Ministry’s top priority is ensuring a secure environment for students.

Additional security is expected to be posted, in addition to counselling support to  address disruptive behavior and maintain student discipline.

Investigations into recent incidents are ongoing, and the Ministry said it will continue to work with parents, community members, and law enforcement.

This aims to strengthen behavioral support systems and create a safer, more positive environment for students.

Meanwhile, the parent of the student involved in the altercation near the school’s compound has demanded her child be transferred out of the school.

According to a Newsday report, she said she will not be sending her daughter back to school, expressing concerns for her daughter’s safety, fearing further attacks.

She is calling on the Education Ministry to approve the request.
