The Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC) has highlighted the importance of equality and non-discrimination in education ahead of tomorrow’s observance of the International Day of Education.

It called on educators, students, parents and institutions to promote fairness, respect and inclusion so that no one is excluded or disadvantaged.

The EOC emphasized that education is a fundamental right and fair access is essential for social and economic development.

The Commission reminded that the Equal Opportunity Act makes discrimination in education unlawful on grounds such as sex, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, disability, and marital status.

The EOC investigates complaints of discrimination and promotes awareness of equal opportunity through outreach and sensitization programs.
