The Ministry of Energy says it is concerned about the delay to salvage operations, following last year’s collapse of Rig 110 in the Heritage Offshore East Field, where rig worker Pete Phillip went missing.
The salvage operation is expected to facilitate the recovery of the victim, however, Minister Ernesto Kesar says Well Services has not met their June 2025 start date, and the agency has not stated a reason for this delay.
The Ministry is calling on the company to officially provide timely notifications on the progress of salvage activity, as is required under the law.
And it says it will treat with urgency any regulatory approvals required so that the salvage operation can begin as soon as possible.
Earlier this month, the Ministry also was also told that assets belonging to Heritage Petroleum continues to be at risk near the collapsed rig.
