Dr. Michael Dowlath, Minister of Education, joined the staff and students of Holy Faith Convent, Penal, in commemorating the Holy Faith Convent Steel Orchestra’s victory at the National Schools’ Panorama 2026.
The Penal school won with 274 points, with Naparima College (270) and Presentation College (257) rounding out the top three orchestras.
The Ministry of Education says the accomplishment reflects the discipline, creativity and teamwork of the students, instructors and administrators.
“It stands as a powerful testament to the role of arts education in fostering holistic student development and national pride,” the Ministry stated.
“We continue to support the holistic development of students through robust co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes that cultivate talent, creativity and character.”
Also attending the celebrations were Dr. Navindra Roopnarine, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Community Development, Alderman Shanti Boodram, Vice Chairman of Penal Debe Regional Corporation, Fr. Aduaka, Parish Priest at St. Dominic’s R.C. Church and representatives of the Holy Faith Convent Board of Management and parents.
St Margaret’s Boys Anglican School won the Primary School competition, totaling 279 points for a runaway victory over Febeau Government Primary School (266), and San Fernando Boys RC School (265).
