Energy Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal has proposed a regional forum, to strengthen ties and foster closer collaboration with Guyana and Suriname in energy policy and development.
Speaking at the Guyana Energy Conference in Georgetown, he said deeper regional engagement, including a standing mechanism for energy ministers and technical teams, will help align strategies and investment plans across the region.
Acknowledging past missed opportunities, Dr Moonilal pitched Port of Spain as a ready partner for petroleum and gas projects that could help Guyana and Suriname move gas into value chains more quickly, without building new plants.
He highlighted Trinidad and Tobago’s energy infrastructure, industrial base, and plans to reopen the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery as key advantages for faster gas monetization.
