Dr Lenny Saith has passed away.
He reportedly died today at his home in San Fernando.
During a political career spanning decades, Dr Saith held several Ministerial portfolios and even acted as Prime Minister several times under the Patrick Manning administration.
He was awarded the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 2017.
Tribute was paid by Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles during a media conference today.
Also extending condolences was former Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, who said, “Throughout all of this he, as servant or mentor , was never ruffled nor was he ever too busy to respond as needed by his colleagues or country. In all these years of sharing time , space and responsibility with him, through storms and even provocations, I have never seen him frown or utter a word in anger. He was always that calming voice that steered discussions to reason and good outcomes.”
