US flight capacity could be cut by up to 10% at 40 major airports, from Friday, if the government shutdown continues.
This was announced by US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
The cuts, expected to impact domestic flights, come after air traffic controllers reported fatigue due to working without pay.
Starting Friday, reductions will rise gradually, potentially affecting up to 4,000 flights per day.
BBC News reported that high-traffic airports like Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Chicago O’Hare are expected to be among those affected.
