Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin says the State of Emergency (SoE) is producing results, despite ongoing murders.
Martin, who is also Gold Commander for the SoE, told Guardian Media the measure is disrupting criminal activity, enabling faster police response and leading to arrests and firearm seizures.
She noted that murders have declined slightly, with 96 recorded so far this year compared to 106 at the same time in 2025.
The senior officer maintains the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service remains focused and will continue intensified operations to combat crime.
