Cricket West Indies says they have resolved legal matters with the former West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich.
The legal issue related to the Barbadian’s eligibility for selection and non-renewal of his central playing contract, emerging out of Dowrich’s early return from the West Indies tour of New Zealand in 2020.
CWI says after engagement between the parties, the matter has been brought to a close and has been settled amicably.
“CWI is pleased that an agreement has been reached and welcomes Shane to be part of its coaching structure as he moves into further professional development, having retired from international cricket in December 2023,” said CWI chief Executive Chris Dehring.
“Shane is delighted that this uncertain period over the last five years has come to an end and is now looking forward to forging a coaching career and maintaining his involvement in the game he loves, having hung up his gloves in 2023,” said Dowrich’s lawyer, Phillip Nicholls.
“He welcomed the opportunity to pass on the knowledge gained during a career that included 35 Test matches to the next generation of cricketers, and wicketkeepers in particular,” Nicholls added.
CWI stated that both parties agreed that the terms of the settlement will remain confidential between them.
