Chief Secretary Farley Augustine says urgent action is needed to address coastal erosion caused by rising sea levels on the eastern side of Tobago.

Mr Augustine said on Wednesday that the coast of securing the eastern coastline will cost in the region of one billion dollars.

“We brought the Caribbean Development Bank here in about 2022. They estimated that we would need about one billion dollars just to fix the Windward coastline,” Mr Augustine said.

“The response to the environment cannot be to do nothing, because if we do nothing, we will end up with nowhere to live and work.”
