The Caribbean Court of Justice has concluded its referral sensitisation campaign in Suriname, aimed at raising awareness of the Court’s Original Jurisdiction.
From November 2nd to 5th, CCJ President Justice Winston Anderson and his team conducted workshops for members of the Suriname Bar Association, covering key aspects of the Caribbean Single Market and Economy and the Court’s referral process.
The sessions mark the end of a two-year public education campaign, supported by the European Union, which also saw similar workshops held in Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
As part of the visit, Justice Anderson presented a Dutch translation of the CCJ’s 2024 Original Jurisdiction Rules to Suriname’s Ministry of Justice and Judiciary, reinforcing regional collaboration and access to justice.
