The Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA, has mobilised an immediate response to support Jamaica following the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Melissa.
The Category 5 storm made landfall on October 28th, bringing severe flooding, power outages, and destruction across several parishes.
CARPHA’s Executive Director, Dr. Lisa Indar, joined a CARICOM-led mission to assess the damage and coordinate recovery efforts with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton.
The Agency has already dispatched medical supplies and is conducting health sector assessments as part of the regional response.
CARPHA reaffirmed its commitment to Jamaica’s recovery and public health support.
