CARICOM Leaders Condemn U.S. Military Buildup in Caribbean
Former Prime Ministers in the Caribbean have banded together to issue a statement to express concern about the military build-up of the US in the region.
Among them are Dr. Keith Rowley.
The former heads are urging a pull-back to avoid any undermining of peace, stability, and development in the space.
They argue that the situation has the potential to pull the region into conflicts that are not of its making.
On social media, Dr. Rowley stated that he found it “necessary and dutiful” to endorse the historic statement.
He reflected on Trinidad and Tobago’s past leadership in upholding the principles of unity and respect for sovereignty that underpin the declaration.
Dr Rowley added that it was “embarrassing” that T&T had now “recklessly subscribed” to actions that abandon those principles.
