CARICOM Chairman and Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, met with Bahamas Prime Minister Phillip Davis as part of regional consultations ahead of the 50th Regional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM.
Dr Drew thanked Prime Minister Davis for “the warm welcome and meaningful discussion” during his visit.
“Our engagement was constructive and focused on strengthening our region as we prepare for the upcoming CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis,” he stated in a media release.
“I look forward to continuing our collaboration in the spirit of unity and regional progress,” the CARICOM Chairman added.
Discussions between the two leaders focused on matters of critical importance to the region.
The talks also addressed key agenda items for the upcoming Heads of Government Meeting in Basseterre, with emphasis on enhancing functional cooperation, and ensuring that CARICOM continues to deliver tangible benefits for the people of the Caribbean.
Prime Minister Drew reiterated his commitment, as CARICOM Chairman, to fostering consensus, deepening collaboration, and ensuring that the upcoming meeting in Saint Kitts and Nevis reflects the shared aspirations of Member States for sustainable development, stability, and prosperity across the Community.
The Heads of Government Meeting is set for February 24-27.
Dr Drew also met with senior members of the Bahamian Cabinet and government officials including Honourable Frederick A. Mitchell, MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas, who met the Prime Minister and his delegation upon arrival.
