The Brechin Castle Solar Farm has achieved first electrons from the nation’s first utility scale solar farm.
A release from the Energy Chamber says these electrons were transmitted from the southern segment of the farm and delivered to T&TEC on July 17th.
Once fully commissioned, the solar farm will have the capacity to deliver up to 92 megawatts of power into the national electricity grid, providing approximately 8% of T&T’s power generation.
This makes it the largest utility-scale solar farm in the Caribbean.
The joint venture partnership between bp, Shell and NGC was established to provide cleaner energy into the country’s electricity network.
