The Port Authority says technical checks and preparations are ongoing on the Blue Wave Harmony.
Sea trials expected to resume in the coming days, once assessments and approvals are complete.
This follows reports that the hull of the MV Blue Wave Harmony was damaged earlier today, during an incident at the Port of Scarborough.
An official told 103.1FM News that it is prioritizing the transport of over 640 Tobagonian steelpan players for this weekend’s Panorama semi-finals.
Since the previous cargo vessel’s lease ended on January 12th, the Authority has focused on moving essential goods and medical supplies to Tobago, a priority that will continue until the Blue Wave Harmony is fully operational.
Meanwhile, due to the limited cargo service on the sea-bridge, deliveries of cement and other construction supplies to Tobago, have been affected.
103.1FM News spoke with three hard-wares in Tobago today, that confirmed there was no cement in stock, with one confirming low stock other construction material, such as blocks and steel.
However, Works Minister Jearlean John told 103.1FM News that there has always been adequate capacity for transporting hardware, and the new cargo vessel will soon complete its sea trials and enter full service.
