Barricades and steel plates have been installed in the vicinity of a sinkhole along the Western Main Road in Carenage.
According to the Works Ministry, this is an immediate safety measure aimed at stabilising the vulnerable area to protect commuters.
Permanent repair works are due to begin tomorrow, August 29th 2025, with an intended completion date of September 5th 2025, permitting favourable weather conditions.
To treat with traffic management, Traffic Wardens have been assigned from today, during peak hours, to ease traffic congestion in the vicinity of the project.
Motorists and pedestrians are strongly advised to approach the area with extreme caution and to comply with the directions of traffic wardens on duty.
The sinkhole is located in the vicinity of the Carenage Police Station.
