Australia Under-19s produced a commanding batting display to post an imposing 314 for 7 against West Indies Under-19s in their Super Six Group 1 clash at the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup in Harare on Wednesday.

After being sent in, Australia made full use of favourable batting conditions, scoring at a healthy run rate of 6.28 an over.

Captain Oliver Peake anchored the innings superbly with a composed 109 from 117 balls, striking nine fours and a six.

He was well supported by Nitesh Samuel, who made a steady 56, and wicketkeeper Alex Lee Young, whose fluent 45 kept the scoreboard moving.

The innings was given early momentum by Will Malajczuk’s explosive 48 off just 30 balls.

Australia accelerated strongly in the final powerplay, adding 85 runs in the last 10 overs despite losing wickets.

For West Indies, R’Jai Gittens and Jakeem Pollard claimed two wickets each, but the Caribbean side now faces a challenging chase under pressure.
