Chief Secretary Farley Augustine says he’s still “thinking and praying” about when Tobagonians will head to the polls, even though the Tobago House of Assembly was dissolved this week and the legal election countdown has begun.
Augustine says he has not yet advised the Prime Minister or the President of a date — a legal requirement before the election machinery can start.
Under the THA Act, the vote must be held within two to three months of dissolution, meaning sometime between early January and early February, unless he opts for a December poll.
Both major parties are already gearing up. Augustine says the Tobago People’s Party will campaign on its achievements and long-term development plan, while the PNM insists it’s fully prepared to contest the election and reconnecting with communities across the island.
For now, Tobagonians wait for the date to be announced.
